A new fish farming method that uses converted shipping containers has been developed by Finland’s Natural Resources Institute (LUKE). The unit includes both a fish tank and the necessary water recycling technology. The container-based modular solution enables scalable plug-and-play farm solutions.
Expanded deployment of mechanized feeders in aquaculture represents a transformative opportunity to advance sustainability, efficiency, and profitability within the industry. This review compared different demand and automatic feeders, comparing their pros and cons while presenting configurations for different use cases and farm types.
By pairing these feeders with feeds and feed regimens tailored to each species being cultivated, aquaculture production will continue to grow while they reduce the cost of seafood. This in turn will lower food scarcity and provide affordable access to protein.
