Using energy storage technology can improve the stability and quality of the power grid. One such technology is fly- wheel energy storage systems (FESSs).

Compared with other energy storage systems, FESSs offer numerous advantages, including a long lifespan, exceptional efficiency, high power density, and minimal environmental impact.
Application areas of flywheel technology will be discussed in this review paper in fields such as electric vehicles, storage systems for solar and wind generation as well as in uninterrupted power supply systems.
