Exports in firm sales with payment of an amount exceeding 200 Tunisian dinars, in respect of products benefiting from the regime of freedom to export, are made without authorization under cover of a definitive invoice domiciled with an approved intermediary, in accordance with the conditions provided by the Central Bank of Tunisia.
Tunisian law prohibits the export of foreign currency from Tunisia as payment for imports prior to the presentation to the bank documents confirming shipment of the merchandise to the country. Usually, a freight forwarder or Tunisian Customs documents serve this purpose.
The Ministry responsible for Trade shall keep the Tunisian Central Bank and the Directorate-General of Customs updated on a daily basis of the content of the authorizations granted. The validity of the import authorization is set at 12 months to run from the date of the decision of the Ministry responsible for Trade.
