The Port of Amsterdam has received the first floating solar units for an offshore solar farm. These solar units will soon integrate with existing wind farms, forming one of the world’s largest offshore solar projects and highlighting Amsterdam’s leadership in sustainable energy.
The first offshore solar floaters arrived in the Port of Amsterdam in the week of 14 October 2024 , straight from the Oceans of Energy factory. These modular, prefab units form part of the Hollandse Kust Noord offshore solar farm that will be installed in 2025.
A festive ceremony has been organized to celebrate the inauguration and namegiving of the offshore solar farm in the port of Amsterdam on the 26th of June.
The first floating solar units for the Hollandse Kust Noord (HKN) offshore solar farm have arrived at the Port of Amsterdam. Developed by Oceans of Energy, these floating solar panels will be integrated with the CrossWind HKN offshore wind farm, creating one of the world’s largest offshore solar installations in the North Sea.
