Ember calls for Thailand to add 32GW of new capacity to its existing solar deployment targets. Image: Sungrow. Adding 32GW of new solar capacity, plus 15GWh of batteries, to Thailand’s power generation deployment targets could cut power generation costs by as much as US$1.8 billion.
According to data from the International Energy Agency (IEA), electricity demand in Thailand is expected to grow more than 2.4% annually through 2030, with AI workloads, cloud infrastructure, and industrial modernization contributing to the increase. Thailand’s AI-ready solar and BESS get $820M from the ADB via Gulf Energy.
It will be executed by Gulf Energy’s subsidiary Gulf Renewable Energy Company Limited. Coupled with energy storage, the solar power assets will provide clean energy during non-daylight hours, grid stability, and facilitate further integration of solar power in the country’s energy mix.
The portfolio comprises 8 ground-mounted solar projects representing a combined 393 MW and 4 ground-mounted plants with a combined 256 MW PV and 396 MWh of energy storage capacity. It will be executed by Gulf Energy’s subsidiary Gulf Renewable Energy Company Limited.
Our photovoltaic container solutions including 20ft/40ft containers, custom mobile containers, commercial and industrial energy storage systems are engineered for reliability, safety, and efficient deployment. All systems include comprehensive monitoring and control systems with remote management capabilities.
